Tarnished Foil Technique

I have been seeing on Pinterest a whole bunch of these Tarnished Foil cards and our stamping group is having a challenge week so this is what I picked for a challenge.

You can see the tutorial for the technique HERE.

I first took the foil carstock and swiped it with my Stazon ink, then repeatedly stamped the sunflower all over the backgound with my versamark ink and added enchanted gold embossing powder, well I think that was my first mistake because it is too light for this challenge I believe, you just can't see it very well.  Then I embossed with my embossing folder. Used gold and copper embossing to add to the embossing.  I think it turned out ok but I guess not what I was hoping for, and as a whole card it just seemed to busy to me, so I cut it in half and I will use the other half on another card.   Now I am thinking of adding a corner treatment of some sort to the right corner, I feel it needs some balance.  I stamped the sunflower again onto brown cardstock and embossed in gold.

p, embossed w/ Enchanted gold embos

DCWV - Foil cardstock (silver)
Hero Arts - Sunflower stamp (embossed with enchanted gold on background and gold on brown cardstock for focal image)
Cuttlebug -Textile embossing folder
Gold and copper embossing on the after dry embossing
Our Daily Bread Designs - mini tag die and mini tag sentiment stamp

Let me know if you decide to give it a try would love to see what you come up with.
Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a great week!

No line coloring

Well I tried my hand at no line coloring again, although I can see a bit of lines still but there is a funny story behind this one.

I stamped the image with distress ink planning on watercoloring the image, Well I had bought some Spectrum Aqua markers and also some Illustrator markers which are alcohol based not water based, well yep you guessed it I grabbed the Illustrator markers by mistake when I was going to color this, I just couldn't figure out why the ink wasn't blending well and I even added some directly too the flowers and finally gave up and added some distress inks to them and after I was all done and had come back to it after some housework and was putting away the markers I realized I was using the wrong ones, I am surprised it came out as well as it did.

Sunflowers / Colorado

When we were on Vacation out in Colorado I picked up a Papercraft Essentials magazine that had a few sunflower stamps in it along with some papers, and I used those for my card today.

In this stamp set the pumpkin seeds, the seed packet, sentiment and center flower are all separate stamps, so you can decorate the packet anyway you would like, I colored it with markers and added some more burlap decorations to frame it, along with some pearls and Washi tape.

Burlap stickers
Queen & co. - Yellow sunshine pearls
Washi tape

Sharing a few more pictures the first too taken around Red Mountain area in Colorado, just couldn't get over the color of the water due to all the minerals in the area.

The last two are from Pinkerton Hot springs that are on the San Juan Skyway

The colors in the rock where so cool in person, I couldn't quite capture it well in the pictures.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,

Woof Woof

I bought this set of stamps and dies combo at Michaels a little while back but it has taken me a while to finally use them, just wasn't sure what I was going to do with them but when a girl that my hubby works with that I have also become friends with Birthday came up and she loves her dogs, I had to break it out and give it a go.  I tried coloring it like her dog since the shape isn't quite like hers, but she still loved it :)

The bowl and sentiments are also part of the stamp set and have matching dies for the bowl also so the cutting of all this went quite quickly, I popped up the images with foam tape.

Tim Holtz -- Dog talk stamp and die set colored w/markers
Lawn Fawn -- Fancy scalloped Rectangles stackables die
Provocraft -- cuttlebug corner die

Papertrey ink paper

I have been away to Michigan this past weekend, visiting family and then we took a little day trip along Lake Huron, little behind on visiting your blogs but hope to catch up soon :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and letting me know you have, hope your week is off to a good start, we came home to much needed rain here.

Young boy and Colorado

I try to do a little more bright cards for young kids in my family but I think I may have gone a little too bright :)  I think kids like to see their names on things so that was my inspiration for this one.

After doing his name I should have stopped there but I wanted to add a sentiment and so I used these star coasters I have had for some time to stamp the sentiment, of course I had to apply it with some really good adhesive, so that is the way it went out.

memory box -- Contour typewriter keys die (name)
Carta bella -- Alphabet junction paper
Gin-X - Starstruck Rays of sunshine coaster (star)
Gina K design- tag lines sentiment stamp
Star sequins

These pictures are the Ouray Colorado area of our trip, sorry it is taking me so long to go through the pictures.

This first picture is of a washed out road we came across, I was too nervous to go over it after seeing this view of it and my hubby was nice enough not to do it.  After talking to the guy at the hotel he said they had an avalanche there a couple  weeks prior and he said the 10 years he has been there he didn't know there was cement under there, other jeeps did go through there.

Overlook of the town of Ouray

We came across these Falls, they had an over look you could go out onto and see them better but I just took this shot at the side and went back.

Hubby out on the platform. Yep that platform is just hanging out over, I wasn't going out there.

This was at the base of another trail going up into the mountains but there was no way our car was going to make it up there, I do suggest if you go to this area that having a jeep of some kind would be good.  We were told we could probably rent one for $200 a day but we decided to just see what we could with our car.

We took country Route 5 out of Ridgeway Co. to get the sunset pictures, we had a little picnic down there and just sat and watched the sun go down, another beautiful end of the day.

Thanks for stopping by again today, hope you are enjoying your weekend.
